Brain State Conditioning

aka "Brain Training"

Brain State Conditioning (BSC) is something new.  While it shares technology with neurofeedback, it is far more.  In fact, there is almost no comparison in BSC's efficacy and capacity to unleash the potential in individuals far beyond what neurofeedback currently offers. For those wishing to understand this a bit better, imagine a brain at one end of a super highway and information at the other end. Most neurofeedback providers have little understanding of the immense capabilities of the brain and instead, try to force-feed the brain through this super highway system by suggesting insights and repair from an outside source, i.e., the technician, medical team, researcher, etc.  But unless one is interfacing with the brain in the most useful of manners, i.e., allowing the brain to moderate its own experience, the results are less than might be possible with a super-highway connection.

QEEG Neurotherapy (a form of neurofeedback), for example, takes the mean values of the average of 10,000 brains and attempts to train an individual brain to these values through the neurofeedback superhighway. But if the brain has no use or limited use for these attempts at intervention via these national averages, the results are hazy at best and thus neurofeedback has achieved limited results thus far.

 

Real Learning

Brain State Conditioning has advanced neurofeedback light years ahead by creating an inventory of protocols that exercise the brain (rather than dictating new values to the brain) particular to its own needs and values.  This causes real change in the brain through learning which is moderated by the brain itself. Real learning is similar to learning how to ride a bicycle or learning how to swim, which as information, resides permanently in the brain instead of the mind. Once one has learned at a brain level, one then retains this information for life.  Brain State Conditioning is like this.  By training a brain with BSC, one's capacity opens up beyond their existing horizons similar to the learned ability to defy gravity (ride a bicycle) or the death-defying feat of swimming in water over one's head. 

For most individuals, most real learning ceases well before adulthood and instead the mind takes over as a repository of facts, memorization, habitual patterns and learned responses that slowly refine themselves.  By going back and unleashing the brain through BSC, one begins to access far more power to reason, process information and otherwise, rely on intuition and creativity for enhancing one's life and experiences.

As we learn how to rely on a well functioning brain, we discover a vast myriad of possibilities that lay just beyond our limited imaginings and habitual patterns.  We discover that in partnership with a well tuned brain, we can rediscover learning, absorb ideas and experiences beyond the inactive brain's comprehension and contribute to making our worlds far more vibrant and alive.  We discover unknown realms of information, intuition and creativity and rediscover learning all over again.  By training the brain with BSC, we discover a new frontier of learning and self-discovery that knows no bounds.

 

Technique

A Brain State Conditioning series of sessions begins with a very sophisticated, yet relatively simple Brain Map, which measures the imbalances between the four pairs of lobes, the right and left hemispheres, as well as a front to back measurement (which is where Alzheimer's is found) and a few other measurements.  In other words, we begin by measuring the imbalances in the individual brain front to back, side to side and lobe to lobe.  We next compare these imbalances with very sophisticated software developed by BST which then establishes protocols (exercises) for the client which causes the brain to then find its own balance. 

Balancing the brain consists of insight from:

1) BST's database of hundreds of thousands of documented sessions and innumerable clients thus far,

2) the brain map of several Buddhist Monks who were adept at managing their brains through an enculturation of generations of meditation and non-resistance,

3) sophisticated algorithms and research by Lee Gerdes

4) and just plain old common sense.

No doubt about it, generations of meditation is a powerful influence on the health of a brain and powerfully indicates what a healthy brain looks like.  But before you decide you don't want the brain of a Buddhist Monk, first realize what we learned by observing their brains.

While most would believe that a brain in the state of meditation would be slowed down, almost asleep or in hibernation, the opposite is the case. The Buddhist Monk's brains were very active; all realms of the brain were cognizant of each other, all aspects of the brain were in a state of readiness, communication and flexibility, and capable of absorbing what was given to them.  Maybe it was only the sudden surprise slamming of a door, but the highly refined brain attuned by years of meditation was able to absorb the information of an emergency or daily life situation with grace and aplomb and issue directives accordingly.  In fact, the brain that works best is the one that has the most flexibility and capacity to communicate within itself and thus the outside world.  (This is what Brain Training is all about.)

On the other hand, imagine a brain where sections are shut down, grayed out or otherwise, out of sync with other parts of the brain; where communication is impaired, non-existent or simply sluggish.  What happens when this brain reacts to a slammed door or emergency or problem bigger than it seems to be readily able to grasp?  It jerks into motion, often moving into a resistance or a reactionary mode and instead snaps back from a defensive posture.  Far from the flexible and far superior balanced brain readily able to reason, intuit or grasp the situation and take it in stride; instead we have a dysfunctional response..  Ah.. the balanced brain..  Something we have wished for all of our lives..

And, why are brains out of balance you might ask?  Humanity as a species has moved far faster in the last 100 years or so than it has ever moved. Normally, the brain keeps up by building filters and sorting information as it comes in.  But in today's time, we are on complete information overload. Our brains today have to sort and attempt to filter 10,000 times more information per second than 50 years ago [link/footnote].  Wonder why you are in overload, or why vacation feels so good if you are luckily enough to know how to take one, or why a forest offers rest and relaxation?  While some wish for the good old days, maybe bringing your brain up to speed is the better answer.

So, it turns out balancing your brain is a good thing and not so dissimilar to balancing the tires on your car or defragging your hard drive.  Each brain is unique; each brain has its own fingerprint and Brain State Conditioning trains each brain to its own uniqueness and potential.  Every brain is different, every brain is unique and BSC allows the brain to find its own balance.

By the way, our mechanism of intervention of a brain is not national averages, or recommendations from well-meaning or well-read individuals or a body of human knowledge or research.  Our intervention is based on the intention of the client moderated by the brain itself.  Instead of outside human values dictating what the brain should look like, the results are under the management of the brain itself.  This goes far beyond anything available with typical neurofeedback and must be experienced to be understood.  Request additional insight from a representative of Resonant Services.

By the way, there are no mistakes with BSC.  A brain is a pretty smart organ (trillions of neurons) and will not take information that is contrary to its own survival and best interests, whereas, the mind directing activities through its faulty beliefs and values is prone to errors and feeds the brain erroneous conclusions.  Left to its own devices, without the mind's intervention, the brain only takes information that can advance its own homeostasis and stability.  BST has proven this conclusively. 

Little is left to the possibility of error.  Software, rather than a technician, diagnoses and chooses the protocols that are used to produce the exercises that balance the brain.  It is not up to the technician or doctor to estimate what might be best for the brain.  Sophisticated algorithms and advanced physics read the brain patterns and frequencies and protocols are delivered by far more common sense than can be delivered by the human brain – even a balanced brain.

Once a brain map has been produced (total of two hours), the software recommends protocols based on the 1000 or so protocols developed by BST delivered by the technician.  And while it is true that many clients require similar protocols to start, i.e., we all share variations of similar problems, we are working with individual brains and the refinement of the protocols is a very personalized activity. 

 

Silver or Gold Package*

Typically, a client will do (or begin with) a five or twelve session package. 

·        A Silver Package is one Brain Map and five sessions, and a

·        A Gold Package is one Brain Map and twelve sessions. 

Once the assessment (Brain Map) is completed, the software recommends the protocols and the sessions begin.  Sessions are typically 75 minutes and can be done as many as three a day (depending on scheduling availability), two a day or one a day or even spaced out over several weeks or months.  We typically recommend two sessions a day, a morning session, and a 2nd session after lunch.

* Silver and Gold Packages are no longer the norm.  Now, you will typically be offered a package of ten "extended sessions" which replace twelve standard sessions and run approximately 105 - 120 minutes each (actual training time may be less).  It is becoming increasingly clear that concentrated sessions are increasingly effective.  Often, clients do two extended sessions a day and some licensees offer two extended sessions back to back as a four hour appointment.  Different licensees offer different packages.

And, while we see many types of symptoms clear up very quickly (better sleep, reduced anxiety, better focus, etc.) our intent is to balance the brain rather than fix problems.  When we balance a brain, which is the central control system of the body, there is a cascade effect throughout the body and personality for which symptoms based on a previously out of balance (dysfunctional) brain begin to clear up.  There seems to be no limit as to what might clear up, though we do not diagnose illness nor address illness specifically.  We balance brains, bring flexibility and harmony to the brain and things change. 

 

No Alcohol, etc.

It is important that during sessions, one week before and at least two weeks afterward that:

·        no alcohol be consumed,

·        no recreational drugs be used

·        no energy work be performed including

·   no chiropractic, etc. 

While the brain is building neural nets, i.e., learning based on the exercises based on the software protocols, no other powerful influences should be experienced.  One might imagine laying neural nets in the brain with a certain grain or pattern, and other work attempting to lay its own pattern.  We require that you subscribe to only one modality at a time for your best success.

 

Protein

We recommend that you consume large amounts of protein beginning several days before sessions and continuing for several weeks afterward.  Frankly, once the values of high concentrations of protein (a minimum of 100 grams a day, etc.) are understood, particularly as it regards the brain, one may become a powerful proponent of a protein supplement for life. 

 

Trace Minerals

Resonant Services recommends that one add trace minerals to their diet from naturally occurring sources, i.e., natural salt.  There are many sources of natural salt including Himalayan, Celtic, Redmond RealSalt (available in most grocery stores), Marine Minerals and others.  Simply dissolve this natural salt into a quart of water and let it sit overnight.  If the salt is completely absorbed, add more.  As long as there is undissolved natural salt in the container, the brine is at the proper max 26 percent solution.  Use a minimum of 4 drops in everything you drink or consider taking one teaspoon in hot water with lemon first thing in the morning. 

Adding trace minerals to your diet is an excellent boost to your "body electric" and enhance the many functions of the body including brain functions and Brain Training.
